Review of Reservoir Dogs (1992) by Ashley H — 30 Jan 2014
Reservoir Dogs was the start of a incredible career from master filmmaker Quentin Taratino, and is still to this day one of his best films. He takes such a simple concept and turns it into something truly extraordinary, by making the film both humorous and exciting.
If you just listen to the dialogue you can sense Taratino just writing it at his typewriter, and how his genius is just flowing. The characters don't have names, all they have is code names, but the famous opening scene really sets them up great and shows us the humanity and true life in the characters.
As for the cast, this talented ensemble consists of some truly great actors, but I think my favorite will always be Steve Buscemi for his brilliant performance including a scene where he tries to justify why he doesn't tip.
Many people overlook this directional debut, but all I can say is that this is without a doubt the best and most inspirational directing debut I have ever seen. Anyone who wants to become a filmmaker, follow in this great mans footsteps.
Quentin Taratino is one of the most gifted directors to ever live, and this will be remembered as one of cinemas greatest works of art.
