Review of Reservation Road (2007) by Dru D — 25 Sep 2009
What a sad and depressing movie. It really makes you put yourself in the characters' shoes and think what would you have done? About 10 minutes into the movie we see the lives of two families change forever when a father with his son in the car accidentally hits a boy on the road, killing him.
The driver, played by Mark Ruffalo, doesn't stop and just drives off. The parents of the boy, played by Joaquin Phoenix and Jennifer Connelly, find their son dead on the road, and from that point on this movie is just so dramatic and intense.
The thing is Ruffalo isn't a bad guy in the slightest, and throughout the movie you see him breaking down emotionally. The one minor problem I have with this movie is that there are too many coincidences.
Yes it's a small town, but come on! Nevertheless this movie will mess with you emotionally and really make you feel for all the characters. The acting was superb and the ending is very good and leaves you on a very sad note.
