Review of Reservation Road (2007) by Mhia M — 23 Apr 2009
I guess I can understand why it was not as well received despite of the awsome casts. One review that I sorta agreed was that there were too many cliches in the movie, one of it it being how the characters somehow are "connected" to each other. but looking past that, I found the whole movie, confronting and it does raise issue of hit n run and its aftermath. Unthinkable I thnk for all parents but it gave me different perspective to the issue. Plus, great acting from the cast, Joaquin Phoenix I think was the best in this one, so refreshing for him to take in totally different role, just a simple suburbian father who all the sudden have to faced a tragic event. Mark Ruffalo was really good too (u can almost feel his pain and guilt as the movie progresses) and so as Jennifer Connelly... Painful esp for parents to watch but all in all, good "confronting" film despites of the few cliches.
For the ones who saw this film, didnt u just hate Mira Sorvino's charcter here esp at the start? u cant help but think, if it wasnt for her nagging, the acccident wouldnt had happened... I know I know, she wasnt the one driving the car and speeding but still I blamed her!
