Review of Rescue Dawn (2007) by Michael G — 21 Aug 2010
Looks Herzog, feels Herzog, especially in his attention to natural detail, nowhere more evident than in the emaciated figures of the prisoners. Bale's familiar with self starvation of course, he's really quite committed to this kind of acting, though I'm a bit puzzled as to why they didn't choose to go with the light German accent the real Dieter had.
Excellent supporting cast, with Zahn really standing out as the increasingly childlike Duane. Coming from Herzog, I was a tad surprised by the perhaps too Hollywoodian ending.
