Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Diego D — 26 Sep 2012
One of the best films ever, in my humble opinion! A gorgeous look at complete and utter chaos, that leaves you both sick and wanting more through-out. Your stomach will turn, but you won't look away.
You may just faint (as I've seen someone watching it do) but it will be worth the doctor's bill - trust me. It will screw with every single one of your senses, and dive straight into what you think is right and wrong, plummeting down to depravity and then gloriously rising as the victor.
Somehow, you feel like the film has 'won'; as if it has 'beaten' you into submission, and emerged victorious as your ruler. It has conquered. And my God what a soundtrack... Proof that Jared Leto is much more than just a pretty face, and a whirlwind of stellar performances from an eclectic cast that could only be hand-selected by someone just a little mad.
Bravo.
