Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Dan M — 27 Nov 2012
Definitely some great things about this movie. The story starts off alright but doesnt pick up. The editing, music, cinematography, and the acting by Ellen Burstyn are all very good. But by the end of the movie I felt like I was watching a two hour anti drug psa.
It was like some filmmaker was arrested for possession of heroin and in order to reduce his sentence he was asked to make this film. The message for me was the same throughout the film; Beginning- Drugs are bad, Middle - Drugs are really bad, End - If you do drugs you'll get your arm cut off, become a prostitute, go to prison, and become insane.
I expected more from this film but found it entertaining.
