Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Andrew J — 19 Dec 2012
One of the most gripping and suspenseful movies I have personally ever seen. An in depth look into the lives of drug addicts seems pretty generic, however the way Darren Aronofsky tackles this task is anything but conventional.
The editing style (shot sequencing, closeups, and split-screen) is something I have never seen before, and it had me clinging to my seat by the end. The Idea of what a "drug" actually is is brought to light as the effects of every day items and activities is paralleled with the effects heroin and cocaine.
I don't know if any other movie has evoked as strong a reaction as this one did.
