Review of Requiem for a Dream (2000) by Steve S — 13 Nov 2014

Aronofsky's direction is a bit pretentious and it is too intense and difficult to watch at times, but Requiem for a Dream is also a very memorable and effective film with great technical aspects, important subject matter, some very emotional moments and wonderful acting.

What lifts this movie to exhilarating heights are Ellen Burstyn's absolutely magnificent performance which should have earned her an Oscar and terrific, iconic and undoubtedly fantastic score that is one of the very best in 21st century cinema.
