Review of Repulsion (1965) by Devilish G — 26 Jan 2009
Roman Polanski's masterwork! A true milestone in the history of cinema and horror genre! There is no other movie that can describe the concept of madness so brilliantly. Magnificient cinematography, direction, and acting all around.
Catherine Deneuve is a great choice for the beautiful and disturbed Carol role. There is no one out-of-place scene or detail, and everything leads the audience to the ending. And it gets very disturbing, so you may decide to stay away from this movie if you are scared of being alone at home after watching a horror movie! Repulsion is the first and the best movie of Polanski's "apartment" trilogy (the other two are Rosemary's Baby and the Tenant), and carries all the elements of master's cinematic genius.
A masterpiece by every aspect!
