Review of Repulsion (1965) by Seth M — 25 Jul 2013
A film which puts you, in relativistic terms, in the frame of reference of a woman on her descent into phobic lunacy. A masterpiece of pointed, heavy cinematography, it presents a distorted, disturbing, demented tangle of empathy and apathy with some truly terrifying moments.
Deneuve's performance is a masterpiece of damaged-disconnected which despite her few lines, pulls the film forward to the eerily open close of the film.
