Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Eriel B — 28 Feb 2011

As someone stated: "Not bad--not good". I loved the IDEA of loving the film--but alas, I could not. I just sorta kinda liked it (and even that was pushing it). Repo! has a curious logic that isn't necessarily elevated to it's full potential (probably due to budget).

Some of the songs are strong (mainly "Zydrate Anatomy") and others are not. All in all, a very hit and miss experimental piece hoping to ride on the coattails of it's (just as bizarre) cousin, "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"--but gorier.
