Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Carly P — 22 Mar 2011
You know what? I enjoyed this movie immensely. Not because it marketed itself as a cult hit, and not because it was edgy or new. I loved it because it had great music, was an Opera, and the actors looked like they were really having a great deal of fun.
It wasn't too overbearing in blood and needles, despite the fact that he was ripping organs out of people, and the designs were absolutely amazing. Costumes, sets, the world, the story, the lighting, the sound, and most importantly the characters.
This is something that is not complete, that there's so much more to learn about, and it's like crack to me. No, the stories of all the characters are not very deep, but they're tantalizing and vivid.
I loved it because I got it, because I have a passion for movies, and because this is an actor's movie. A director's movie. It's just awesome.
