Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Darian C — 17 Jun 2011
This film seamlessly blends gore, nior, and music. The music is all great. Each singer has their own unique voice, yet they're blended together well with the rock music. This is a movie like nothing I've ever seen before.
There are many moments that seem like a joke, but at the same time, seem like they're trying to be creepy. And it comes across as something that's creepy specifically because it's a joke. I'm mostly referring to the gore elements here.
The movie certainly did something new and made it work. So if you're the type of person who hears, "gore, nior, and rock opera" and thinks, "Yes. This is what I need." Then by all means, eat your heart out.
And I feel like many of the rest of us should see it anyway and I don't know why. For my (theoretical) devout readers; you may have noticed a slight difference in this review than many of my others.
Instead of talking about what I liked and why, I talked about what the movie was like in general. I never actually said whether I liked it or not. That's because, after seeing it, I have no clue if I liked it.
