Review of Repo! The Genetic Opera (2008) by Phillipd. — 12 Nov 2008
This movie was amazing and instantly one of my favorites. I saw it in Seattle in their traveling show to promote it and there were already people there dressed up and singing along. I hope it gets a chance for a wide release.
Also, some of these reviews from the mainstream media are ridiculous. Not only do many of them spend their time attacking things completely unrelated to the movie (Paris Hilton as a person, not an actress) but they attack other reviews who use phrases like "instant cult classic" or whatever and hold the film to an entirely different standard without giving it a chance.
Though to be fair, I don't think Rocky Horror had people dressing up at the second showing ever... Oh, though I will say... This movie isn't for everyone. It is quite gory and it is an Opera.
There's practically no spoken dialogue unlike most normal musicals where the music is in the form of individual songs between the rest of the film.
