Review of Repo Men (2010) by Marco C — 20 Jan 2011
Yes, "Repo Men" is conceptually appealing, but unfortunately, fails as a whole because the overwhelming majority of the film is either ridiculously lengthy blood-bath fight scenes, organ removal shots, or close-ups on Forest Whitaker's droopy eye-lid.
The plot pacing is horrendous; one minute Jude Law is at home tucking his son into bed, the next his wife inexplicably kicks him out, and a few moments later, he his "loving" a mostly robotic, singing, junkie Latina in a dump of a district on the outskirts of the dystopia-metropolis in which the film is set.
You can't care less about any event or character for the most part, and are left waiting for the end, which admittedly holds a witty twist, but isn't nearly enough to resurrect a film that plays host to far too many unintended laughs and leaves you wondering if The Union repossessed Miguel Sapochnik's braiN.
