Review of Repo Men (2010) by Michelle C — 18 Apr 2011
How could anything be alive and dead at the same time?
Remy and Jake work for a futuristic organ transplant company that specializes in high prices, high interest rates, and collecting their organs when people can't pay for their products. Remy begins losing his heart for the business and turns in his two weeks notice; shortly thereafter, he literally loses his heart and owes the company a great deal of debt when they replace it for him. Now Jake must bring Remy in and Remy won't come easily.

Miguel Sapochnik, who worked on the set of Trainspotting, delivers Repo Men in his directorial debut. The storyline for this picture is fairly straight forward and a mix of Logan's Run and The Island. This film does contain brilliant gore sequences and better action scenes than those two movies and the cast delivers solid performances. The cast includes Forest Whitaker, Judd Law, Live Schrieber, Alice Braga, and Carice van Houten.
"Welcome to your world, repo man.".
Repo Men is a film that didn't really grab my attention based on its theatrical previews. I caught this off cable a couple days ago and was surprised at the quality of the action sequences and the amount of gore. The plot and overall conclusion was fascinating; however, the film was frustrating and the storyline and sequences are inconsistent. Overall, this is worth watching once but not worth adding to your DVD collection. I would watch Children of Men, The Island, or 1984 over this picture.
"He had a thing for cats and boxes.".
