Review of Repo Man (1984) by Ola G — 20 Oct 2008
Alex Cox cult classic "Repo Man" from 1984 has a weird mix of aliens, punks, repo men and the CIA.
Punk rocker Otto (Emilio Estevez) has just lost his job and been dumped by his girlfriend. Being down and out he is eventually recruited by a Repo Man (Harry Dean Stanton) to become one as well. During his training he bumps into all sorts of trouble and ends up on the trail of a 1964 Chevy Malibu with something extraordinary in the trunk..
"Repo Man" has a bit of the same vibe as "Class Of 1984" had and it was fun to see it again. "Repo Man" is not the most structured movie, but it has charm and a touch of black humour. What can I say, it is a 80s cult movie. : ).
