Review of Repo Man (1984) by Jonathan C — 24 Aug 2009
I find it oddly fascinating how much I do not like this movie, because it has a lot of great stuff going for it.
It's oddly humorous, has a pretty solid punk rock soundtrack, put together by a pretty competent director (though I have found Alex Cox to focus more on style than substance).
And yet I don't really care about anyone in the movie, its barbed treatment of almost every character in the film is almost too ruthless, to the point that it seems worthless to have an vested interest in anyone. I sort've liked the ending though, but that was after over an hour of me wavering between apathy and exasperation.
