Review of Renegade (2004) by Kirk B — 15 Mar 2012
Saw this last night. Based on the early graphic novel by the late great Moebius. This is by no means a conventional Western. Ends up being a very strange and cosmic shamanic trip, quite literally! Vincent Cassel is excellent in the starring role, alone with a supporting cast of Colm Meaney, Michael Madsen ( don't be put off by his usual B list roles), Juliette Lewis and Eddie Izzard.
Was a British/French co production, shot in some beautiful locations in Northern Mexico. The most psychedelic Western since El Topo, which is probably no coincidence.
