Review of Rendition (2007) by Mercedes M — 15 Sep 2009
Rendition is where one state transports a suspect to another state, without any judicial supervision. This means that if said one state chooses, they can pick you up without a warrant, and transport you to an undisclosed said other state for interrogation. The problem with this proposition is that there is no accountability, and no regard for the implications or remorse for anyone that suffers as a result.
This movie portrays such a story, and makes you think about it. It's really a bunch of substories within one movie, that all relate to characters in other substories. I think it was very clever, and it had a surprising ending. Wonderful cast (Meryl Streep, Alan Arkin, Reese Witherspoon to name afew), I can definately recommend this one.
Don't miss the documentary "Outlawed" in the special features. If you don't have an opinion about rendition now, you will have one after watching that.
