Review of Remo Williams: The Adventure Begins (1985) by Mark N — 13 May 2012
An absolute guilty pleasure of an action-hero movie. Why it garnered such derision I have no idea as Remo is a fun watch that don't take the genre too seriously and has a few decent laughs and some rather well choreographed sequences and stunts (many of which Ward claims to have done himself). Joel Grey as a Korean martial arts master was inspired and deserved its Oscar nod as I had no idea it was him until the credits.
Action hero fans will have fun with the training and fight scenes on the Statue of Liberty (handily under renovation at the time). If it lacks anything its a strong villain and the plot could have been more personal but over all its a fu 2 hours at deserved a second outing.
