Painfully formulaic and horrendously predictable. But for every emotionally manipulative moment there's a heartfelt performance or feel-good football sequence. The direction is assured, and despite its familiarity, the story gets its message across loud and clear.
Remember The Titans might be hopelessly contrived but this is a well-meaning and well-made crowd pleaser through and through.
