Review of Remember the Titans (2000) by Cameron J — 20 May 2011
Man, it just hit me that this is about a black and white football team and their theme song was parodied by Tony the Tiger, who is orange with black stripes. The whole "replacing whites with guidos" trick isn't gonna fool me.
Racist, anthropomorphic, cartoon tigers aside, this movie is grrrrrrreat! Granted, it is rushed in its editing, improveable in its side character performances, bad in its dialogue, a bit cheesy, somewhat melodramatic and predictable.
Still, "Remember the Titans" is carried by its compelling story, strong and likable characters, good soundtrack, good casting, effective comic relief, solid sound editing and fine primary cast performances until it reaches a booming touchdown as a heartwarming, inspirational portrait of acceptance and friendship serving as the tools to true victory.
