Review of Remember the Daze (2008) by Cortney R — 27 Dec 2009
Though not a cinematic masterpiece, Remember the Daze is an in your face, blunt--yes I see the irony of this statement--teenage film. It may be a little too honest for the meek, but at its core it is nothing more than a small glimpse at the unadulterated teenage life, and its themes are still very relevant today.
Many critics seem to overlook the underlying idea of the film and tend to try to find a "deeper meaning" which leaves them grasping at thin air. This movie should be taken at face value for its simplicity.
The "point" derived from it being that kids are growing up too fast, parents are losing control, and all that the "Me Generation" is left with is a bunch of hazy memories and unattainable dreams.
It's living fast at 14 years old and never switching lanes. Is the so-called "normal" highschool experience really worth it? Is it better to partake or just observe? It's up to the individual to decide.
Life leaves no room for regrets, and neither does highschool.
