Review of Remember (2015) by Andrew M — 24 Oct 2015
This is certainly an interesting piece of cinema, with a fantastic performance by Christopher Plummer as an elderly widower Auschwitz survivor suffering from dementia who's tracking down, with the assistance of a fellow survivor played by Martin Landau, the SS officer that oversaw the death of his family,.
It's mostly worth seeing for Plummer's performance alone. That said, I'm not sure mixing the two subjects together is respectful to either, especially not with how the final act played out and the implications thereof.
I also think the film should have been re-edited, as the final scene after the climax seemed redundant given what transpired; without spoiling, moving part of that final scene to intercut with the climax would have been more effective IMO.
A tough one to rate given my reservations about it, but might be worth a look if the synopsis sounds interesting.
