Review of Religulous (2008) by Nancy S — 16 Apr 2011
Maherâ(TM)s humorous documentary searching for answers to the puzzling hypocrisies in many of the religions across the globe comes out of the gate strong but lost steam with every recycle punch-line. Maher would use facts to challenge every devout oddball he could find who had confused truths with their faith.
This made for some entertaining side-splitting interviews, but Maherâ(TM)s irreverence grew weary. This film had elements of Mooreâ(TM)s social justice documentaries and Baron Cohenâ(TM)s shocking and disrespectful films.
Maher tied everything together nicely, but, by the end, I cared more about looking for laughs than considering the point he was making.
