Review of Religulous (2008) by Steve T — 29 Dec 2013
Unlike Michael Moore, Bill Maher makes it clear that this "documentary" has a premise based on his own opinion. I take issue with those that say this is anti-Christian - this movie is more anti-religion and dogma.
As a comedian is at the center of this film, expect comedy above education - although he does make some valid points. While the Mormons and Catholics resisted him the most, I found it a little difficult and cringe-worthy to find him going after some "low-hanging fruit" especially when they were willing to embrace him and defend their faith.
I would have preferred him to take a stronger stand and employ Moore-like tactics against those institutions that have excessive money and power as opposed to a bunch of ex-con truckers who are simply trying to get their lives back on track.
