Review of Religulous (2008) by Griffin M — 02 Jan 2014
As an atheist who can't stand Bill Maher, this experience switches from good entertainment to eye-rolling annoyance. The film is very funny- with quick and clever editing along with Bill's ability to be likable when he finally makes a somewhat good point- and again shows that it's always fun to watch a religious nut be stupid.
But that's also the problem; not only does Maher use his typical cowardly interviewing skills by hunting down the biggest idiots he can find, but the film itself uses blatant editing techniques to make him win every argument.
Sure, it's fun seeing religious idiots be humiliated, but this film really leaves no impression on people like me. I don't think an agnostic wise-ass steamrolling pious assholes is anything compelling.
But yeah, it's definitely fun.
