Review of Religulous (2008) by Connor S — 30 Jul 2014
If you have not heard of Bill Maher, he is a notorious critic of religion. Religulous is a hour and a half of him criticizing and making fun of Christians, Jews, and Muslims, with brief pokes at Mormons and Scientology.
Being as offensive as it could be, Religulous also brings up some thought-provoking ideas about religion and the state of the human race and provides alot of laughs while doing so. Bill Maher is hilarious (to me at least) and is very clever with his criticisms.
I don't agree with everything he says, I think some of his criticisms are unjustified, and I don't exactly know how much of it is true, but that's only 5% of the time. If you are die-hard religious, or even vaguely religious, I doubt you will enjoy this.
This film will probably only appeal to people who either don't care about religion or take the opposite stance and disbelieve in religion or god. But if you belong to one of those groups, you will see a funny, clever, and damningly offensive film.
