Review of Rejected (2000) by Moni K — 15 Jan 2011
Infinitely quotable masterpiece that is referenced, talked about and loved for the wrong reasons. The sadistic genius Hertzfeldt went beyond the process of simple animation, mirroring and representing the ups and downs of an animator suffering from rejection by societal standards and from "drawer's block". Perhaps it can also be interpreted as a commentary stating that animation is collapsing. Be it as it may, Rejected has been widely welcomed and received by all types of audiences and here it is to make us laugh harder than laugh itself. Literally, my stomach ended in laughter pain after watching it.
98/100.
