Review of Reign Over Me (2007) by Connor _ — 16 Jan 2010
A good indie drama. Adam Sandler definatley deserved the Oscar for Best Actor. The writing by director/writer Mike Binder is very accurate in its portrayal of Sandler, a mentally ill man whose family was killed in the 9/11 attacks.
Don Cheadle plays Sandler's college roommate who tries to help Sandler get medical attention. Saffron Burrows' character, who's sexually obsessed with Cheadle, is kind of a spare wheel to the movie just written in to add stress to Cheadle's own life, which he often complains about in the film.
Some scenes become boring, and some just depressing, but there are also a couple funny lines. Mike Binder did a good job on the script. The ending doesn't tie off every loose end, but it's still pretty satisfying.
8.6/10.
