Review of Reign Over Me (2007) by Anna H — 22 Jan 2012
I'm sad to see such poor reviews. I was put off by it being a 9/11 movie and pretty much refused to watch it. Seemed like it was just another movie supporting the war propaganda. Personally I'm tired of listening to the war drums, profiteering off of the loss of human lives such as the tragic day of 9/11 & the wars of the past few decades. You Tomatoer's out there don't want social reviews so here we go.
The film had a light touch of all the right things. 9/11 brings a sense of realism to the movie which you won't find in any other crisis scenario. Natural disasters, war &/or any other PTSD plot's would not work for the characters that Mike Binder had scripted. You could feel the characters pain while retaining the mystical feeling like you have been friends with them for years. People expect this movie to have a very concise clear message with a hook line and sinker timeline. Sorry to burst your bubble but that's not how the real world works. In my opinion, this is a true depiction of a east coast middle aged rock n roller who has gone through a serious tragedy and is lost in his own psychosis.
