Review of Reign Over Me (2007) by Dylan C — 12 Jul 2010
"Reign Over Me" is a brilliantly well-done drama. It stars Don Cheadle as Alan Johnson, a dentist, who meets up with his old college roommate, Charlie Fineman (excellently played by Adam Sandler), who lost his family in the 9-11 attack and has isolated himself ever since.
Alan tries to help Charlie get help and through the process, they both learn more about themselves. Yes, the premise has been done before but this movie goes beyond being just a cliche, and grows into it's truly touching and heartwarming experience.
Don Cheadle gives an well-acted performance and Adam Sandler goes far beyond what many have come to expect from him. Mike Binder directs this movie with focus and conciseness, making this two hour film feel a lot shorter than it is.
I recommend "Reign On Me" for anyone in the mood for a well-acted and directed drama.
