Review of Reign Over Me (2007) by Erika K — 03 Jan 2011
I would have to say this is a man chic flick. However, that shouldn't scare away any guy. This is an awesome buddy film, but it does get deep into some crazy emotional issues. Especially as they pertain to 9/11.
Now a lot of films have tried to touch or comment on 9/11 in a variety of ways through film. This film touches on it slightly, but more as a reason for the characters pain and not to really make any political or social commentary other than the attack deeply impacted some people who lost loved ones and have to pick up the pieces of their lives like the rubble of the world trade center.
Sandler I feel is great in this film. He uses his quirky eccentricity to add to the characters psychology, but he changes it up enough so its not Little Nicky in a drama. Don Cheadle is just an all around amazing actor.
I've liked the guy since he played on Fresh Prince in a bit part. Jada is great as well. Liv Tyler is interesting in the part she plays. It's almost underplayed to the point that the woman is mysterious.
Plus, she's Liv Tyler need I say more? Plus, it has some great music to go with it. All around I recommend it.
