Review of Reign Over Me (2007) by Kunal S — 13 Dec 2011
This movie kind of snuck by my radar during its theatrical release but I'm glad I got a chance to see it. Reign Over Me is a pretty depressing film, something I'm admittedly not used to from an Adam Sandler movie.
However, Sandler ups his acting credibility in this one (or atleast adds to it for those of you that enjoyed his work in Punch Drunk Love). I really bought into his emotionally withdrawn and unstable Charlie Fineman - a guy who lost his wife and children during the 9/11 tragedy.
Cheadle is good too and it has a pretty notable supporting cast in Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, Donald Sutherland, and B.J. Novak (the temp from NBC's The Office). All in all, the movie flows well and has just enough variety in emotions to make me feel like I got my 2 hours worth.
Not something I'd necessarily watch again but worth checking out.
