Review of Reign of Fire (2002) by Lyda M — 15 Jun 2009
"What do we do when we wake? Keep both eyes on the sky. What do we do when we sleep? Keep one eye on the sky. What do we do when we see him? Dig hard. Dig deep. Run for shelter and never look back.
" Christian Bale stars as Quinn who witnessed his mother die as a boy. Cause of death: Dragons. Since then, he never let them dragons out of his sight. Enter Van Zan (Matthew McConaughey) and his team of dragon slayers.
Unrealistic story. I don't understand why they're keeping women and children in that place if there's supposed to be a dragons lair nearby? The year is 2020 A.D. but the setting is as modern as can be.
There's tanks, guns, helicopters, computers. It's very confusing. Poor special effects. Izabella Scorupco who plays Alex is very pretty. Gerard Butler of 300 fame plays Creedy, a very good friend of Quinn.
Matthew McConaughey is intense! Honorable mention to Matthew McConaughey's sexy bod. Ben Thornton who plays the young Quinn, his eyes are worth the mention too. Directed by Rob Bowman.
