This movie reminds of a true detective episode mixed with a Clive Barker book. Of course the result is not as good as that sounds but director Amenabar tries hard. In fact he tries too hard as the script changes directions numerous times during the movie.

You can expect the typical mixture of natural and supernatural stuff with a surprise ending. The movie features some fine directing skills and Ethan Hawke's performance is solid but the end result is weak especially compared with Amenabar's best movie "The Others". Still, the movie is underrated in imdb (rating 6,0) and it's a nice way to spend your evening. The trailer is representative of what you are going to watch.
