Review of Regression (2015) by Becky S — 31 Mar 2016
My movie watching experience: confused, confused, confused again, and at the ending complete annoyance. I feel like this was a waste of time. like, if the ENTIRE MOVIE was just her "making it up" the whole time, I feel like I spent almost two hours watching a bunch of idiots. which is basically what I did. I figured since Emma Watson was in it then it would have to be pretty good.. but I was wrong. I'm not sure why she took the role, as she's a really good actress and much better than a film of this standard. the characters were flat which made it confusing as to why certain things were happening. the lead detective seemed a hard person to convince of religion, yet he turns to it so easily after getting spooked? and then he just so easily accepts that it was all a fabricated story anyways? what? honestly, the character with the most depth was Angela's brother, Roy, and he had one of the smallest roles in the movie.
The only thing that impressed me about this movie was Emma Watson's American accent. everything else was dry, empty, and felt like it was missing something essential.
