Review of Regarding Henry (1991) by Aaron D — 30 Mar 2008
"Regarding Henry" is a great story that ultimately feels as if it were someone's misguided idea of what it might be like to endure a real-life morality tale. I would be curious to see what the history of the author holds.
There doesn't seem to be a great deal of connection between writer and characters/material. Thanks to dramatic time, the transformation of the comatose Henry through the end of the film is entirely possible, however the writers change the characters all too quickly and the result is somewhat uneven and not entirely believable.
Perhaps there wasn't enough for Henry et. al to endure; the story from beginning to end is really resolved too easily. I feel Harrison Ford's portrayal is commendable, but the actor didn't deliver as deeply as actors in other films in this genre (i.
E. Robert Deniro in "Awakenings"). This is an all-around good movie and if you are comfortable with the seemingly all "too easy" resolution, pick this one.
