Review of Reds (1981) by Jihan B — 30 May 2008
A really well-made, beautiful movie. But, it does get a little long (at over 3 hours), and seems a little disjointed at times. I think the movie suffers most in its portrayal of the romance between Reed and Bryant.
(Ironic because this is the thing that most people seem to enjoy most.) All we see in their story is a big fight or some other event, and then instead of building to the next one, it's ignored in favor of a political story, and then the next blow up comes out of nowhere.
Repeat. It just made for a long, repetitive viewing experience. Good, but not great.
