Review of Redbelt (2008) by Alex P — 02 Sep 2008
I loved this film. It's a real rollercoaster ride for our "hero" as just when you think things can't get any worse for him, disaster strikes again and again. There are so many twists and plot turns, so it was amazing to see them all come together to help support the central theme of the movie: one man's journey and his desire to stay true to himself and his principles, no matter what the cost.
Don't expect an action movie. While the fighting sequences are great, they are only the backdrop to this dramatic movie. Chiwetel Elifor is outstanding as "our hero." His performance made me feel very emotionally invested in his character.
I love rooting for an underdog, and in this film, I found myself cheering him on in the final minutes of the movie.
