Review of Redbelt (2008) by Harry T — 05 Sep 2008
I admire Mamet for trying to work with a genre basically rendered a joke by years of lousy films. Good acting, some good dialog, and Mamet tries to change the story enough to make it seem new. But the ending is truncated and hollow, the scenes riddled with cliches.
No resolution in the third act, which took the inevitable turn. Not Mamet's best, despite the brave attempt.
