Review of Redbelt (2008) by Josh J — 24 Sep 2008
At one point around mid-way, I was already telling myself that this was one of the best films I had seen in a while. Then...came the ending...and that ruined it for me. The climax made you suspend all belief in a dramatic film that was steeped in the real world.
Not that you don't see that in other movies, but early on you care for the characters and the story and the ending borders on being Karate Kid-ish in a whole new way. Overall, though, really strong film.
WARNING: Don't watch it for the fight scenes...this is a DRAMA.
