Review of Redbelt (2008) by Charles H — 28 Oct 2008
This film is typical Mamet. Double-cross heaps upon double-cross, until the protagonist just can't take it anymore. In a way, this movie is about a man who is pushed beyond the realm in which his personal philosophies are sustainable. When one's code becomes the means by which he is ensnared, will he hold fast or let go? Or, will he reconceptualize it in a way that allows him to retain his integrity?
The cast is top-notch, and the writer's dedication to accurately portraying the mixed martial art milieu is evident.
