Review of Redbelt (2008) by Prasad P — 01 Jan 2009
A smart, complex, morally challenging martial arts drama from one of America's finest writers brings humanity and insight into the true nature of martial arts. Basically a story of a righteous man challenged by corruption, David Mamet takes a swipe at Hollywood's loose moral compass and also parlays his interest in Jiu-Jitsu into his greatest strengths - a strong human drama.
He is brilliantly supported by a superb Chiwetel Ejiofor, who delivers a performance of startling subtlty and depth. Leaves much food for thought.
