Review of Redbelt (2008) by Jebus C — 24 Jun 2009
MMA was screaming out to have a movie made about it and it seemed like a strange choice for David Mamet. It's all over the place. There's Tim Allen, Emily Mortimer, Alice Braga. And they're all not right for their roles.
Its Allen who does best in a serious role although the entire cast pales next to Chiwetel Ejiofor. He's outstanding. But the script is a state. The ending makes no sense and the fights feel...odd.
And Randy Couture should probably question why he's in a movie about MMA fights being fixed. Some poor decisions all round.
