The documentary-within-a-movie format often was distracting and stretched credibility, but it didn't make the movie unwatchable -- just uneven. And it definitely did veer into preachiness. I agree with reviewers who said that some of the performances were pretty bad, but I thought the two heavies turned in good performances.
