Review of Redacted (2007) by Vince S — 14 Feb 2008

This is a poor script. What's this movie about? People's perceptions and reactions to filtered news or is it about the rape of an Iraqi woman? If it's the latter then the rape should have been the inciting incident and how the other soldiers tried to deal with the event would have made for a better story.

Watching this movie was didn't expose anything that most people who watch Stewart & Colbert don't know about the Iraqi war: Soldiers fuck up, and both countries use the media to distort their perception of the war.

Someone should have told Dipalma to be cautious of the media cliches. It's an interesting premise to have the audience view the movie from the soldier's video camera and Dipalma does a good job getting th audience involved in the movie but the story was poorly designed.
