Review of Redacted (2007) by Emma H — 08 Mar 2008

Redacted is Brian De Palma's brave but ultimately flawed experiment with a faux-documentary format. It's equal parts amateurish (a protagonist's abduction that's meant to be serious is laugh-inducing) and thought-provoking (look no further than the film's closing photo montage).

Redacted is likely to anger much of its audience, who will see it as anti-American. This isn't a fair assessment of the film nor is the film an entirely fair assessment of our soldiers.
