Review of Redacted (2007) by Marco L — 25 Jul 2008
I'm a liberal and even I thought the way Brian DePalma demonizes American Soldiers was crossing the line of acceptability. What the film does well though is make the point that the United States Military is not a proper force for policing a civilian population.
These are men trained to hate the people they are fighting and see them as sub human, otherwise they wouldn't be able to kill the enemy and do their jobs. So how can we expect them to respect the faith and culture of a people they've been trained to hate and to administer justice for them? The Bush administration is to blame for any atrocities like those portrayed in this film because they took unfair advantage of the courage and patriotism of our soldiers by sending them into a needless and unjust war.
I hope that every casualty of the war in Iraq, be it, a U.S. soldier or an innocent Iraqi civilian, weighs heavily on the conscience of our faithful leader George W and haunts him for the rest of his days.
